For today's report, I’ll be sharing research from my recent post around health system revenue rankings.
I’ll be updating that post to include 112 hospitals and health systems in total ranked by total net operating revenue as the original analysis excluded several large names (if you notice any more, please let me know!)
Now that I have the chassis built in excel (shared below), there’s a number of other cool things I can dive into with the data (operating data, margins, etc.) and I’d love your feedback on where to go next.
My initial inclination is to dive into revenue mix, payor mix, and operating margin, and also do some deeper analysis into specific health systems that are interesting, but you let me know if you want to see something specific and I’m happy to dive in.
This health system analysis took a bit longer than expected. You all will have the Hospitalogy state of healthcare Q1 update soon, but not quite yet!
Here’s the resource for your convenience. Hopefully it’s helpful to your organization to have all of these in one spot:
Excel data book: 112 of the largest health systems by revenue - including total net operating revenue figures, graph, and links to all ongoing financial disclosures for all health systems included.
Download the excel file by clicking here.
If you have any questions about the analysis or the methodologies therein, feel free to reach out.
Additionally, while a lot of these resources will be included in the Q1 memo, I wanted to pre-emptively share the community Q1 resource folder.
Over the past few months (and hopefully moving forward) I’ve compiled a folder with my favorite resources - investment analyses, banker notes, whitepapers, data books of HCA, Oak Street Health, and Tenet (Tenet is a WIP). Access the Q1 resource folder here.
These will eventually be added to the content library and online community hub (work in progress) so that you don’t have to constantly be tracking things down across multiple avenues.
