Go-to-Millions Membership is in full swing. This Sunday (just like every other Sunday), I do the mental tetris of figuring out who needs to meet who in the Go-to-Millions Membership.
Introductions curated by me go out again tomorrow!! |
ON THIS EPISODE OF GO-TO-MILLIONS |
^ I have 86 photos that pull up when I search Sephora in my camera roll. That feels excessive. Moving right along!
The Sephora Sale is on and I always overdo it. I'm Rogue, meaning the highest rewards tier. Also meaning my time to shop is now, because Rogue gets early access - I don't chase Rogue, it just happens and I hate that about my Sephora habit but I can't change so let's just charge forward. I thought maybe we could look at what I'm getting this year. As mentioned, I have historically treated the sale like a free-for-all and that ends this time. 20% off is not free, Ari!!!!
I'm going to walk you through my entire cart - it doesn't overflow but it's not skimpy either. It's also limited because this year I switched to skincare / haircare / makeup that all scans clean in my ingredient scanner app thingy.
So, I can't just buy anything that the influencers tell me to these days. I also can't buy a lot of what I actually buy in my routine during this sale, because a huge portion of the products I use now aren't carried at Sephora because of that ingredient strictness. I MISS IT!!
The WHY behind what I'm buying from Sephora... ⬇️ reminder, those aren't affiliate links. Never ever. |
I'm taking this sale as an opportunity to not try something new, but to take my tried and true and to get travel-sized versions of each where available. It feels economical because I know I won't dislike anything I buy.
1️⃣. Mini Fresh Face Wash (I've been using this for 6 months.) 1st discovered it because my older sister uses it and I watched her replenish it so many times that I got curious. File this under word-of-mouth. Although I know we discovered the brand together back in middle-school because my entire family became obsessed with their chapstick thingy that came in a copper-colored vessel. I don't see it anymore on Sephora's site but if it were there I'd buy it right now on sale. DID THEY CHANGE IT TO THIS PACKAGING OR IS IT GONE FOREVER??
2️⃣. Mini Biossance Eye Cream (I've been using this for 8 months.) 1st discovered it when my younger sister was buying everything from this brand it felt like and I stayed with her and borrowed. I just did a strike-thru above because in reading the reviews (very negative), I'm now not sure I want to stay here and not try something new. Reviews get me, even if I've tried the product and liked it. I would say I almost just restocked this out of habit, but now that I sit here and read the reviews I guess my eyes aren't really that much better off than before I started using it? GOING TO PAUSE ON THIS!! File this under the power of social proof and it's impact on not just your prospects but your EXISTING CUSTOMERS.
P.S. Yes, I know there are only 5 reviews but that doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy either. Is nobody buying??
2️⃣. Mini Augustinus Bader Moisturizer (I've been using this for 8 months.) 1st discovered the brand on New Year's Day 2023 according to my screenshots. I see it's a rec from Arielle Lorre (who I am quite influenced by).
|
^ You'll notice that this screenshot is the cleansing balm. I never purchased that, and still haven't. What tipped me over the edge to try the brand (again, according to my screenshots), is Danielle Phelong's IG story. January 21, 2024. |
^ But, again, you'll notice I said I've been using this product from Augustinus Bader - The Rich Cream - for only 9 months.
It took me ~6-7 months of taking the moisturizer in and out of my cart to finally pull trigg. IT'S EXPENSIVE!!! But, once I tried it, I haven't gone back and I've repurchased 3 times since I 1st got it. File this under the consideration period. Our 1DC could never understand this!!!
3️⃣. Mini Nécessaire Body Wash (I've been using this on-and-off for 3 years). If you'll remember, I was die-hard Molton Brown Eucalyptus when I 1st met you (circa 2022 when I started writing Go-to-Millions). I wouldn't shut up about it. It's still my favorite body wash, but it doesn't scan clean in my ingredients app, so it's out. </3 File this under clean-ingredient-dupe. Like wherever you'd file Annie's as compared to Kraft. I miss Kraft, and I miss Molton Brown but this consumer got a little smarter unfortunately. </3
Don't you dare bring up that cake pop pictured above. It's little and sometimes I just need a little red dye #40!!! |
4️⃣. Mini Kosas Concealer (I've been using this on-and-off since I actually can't remember). Of everything I'm getting at the sale, this is the only product I don't currently have in my routine. I'm going back to it - but it's not new to me because I have bought it before and I think I liked it. I'm not sure why I went away from it - probably was influenced elsewhere. But I'm going back, and dipping my toes in via a mini. File this under returning customer motivated by a sale.
|
5️⃣. Westman Atelier Foundation Stick (this is the only NEW TO ME PRODUCT I'M BUYING). In full-transparency, it's my 3rd choice. I really, really want a foundation stick. Hannah Chody linked out to the Dior 1 yesterday and it made me want it (see, I'm influenced). So, we can file this under Ari doesn't have an original thought.
However, the Dior foundation stick doesn't pass my ingredients app. So, it's out. INDEPENDENT!!
My 2nd choice that I scanned (that I found alone but I've purchased from the brand many times), is the Hourglass foundation stick. BUT, IT DOESN'T PASS MY INGREDIENTS APP. FML.
The Westman Atelier Foundation Stick does. It's also a brand I knew to scan because I currently use their contour stick so I know it has the potential to be really clean. Upon this scan, we got a green checkmark so I'm going for it.
The reviews are really mixed here - not a slam dunk and the people that hate it seem to really hate it. But, it leans positive and I'm desperate because I can't get my 1st or 2nd choice. The reviews complaining are mentioning that it doesn't work on dry skin. I don't have dry skin so going for it. Thankful it's on sale. |
Even when unmeasured, so many people, places, moments, and factors played in to each of these buying decisions.
🧛♀️: I didn't always choose the best deal. The best savings aren't on the minis - they are on full-sized. But, I don't want full-sized upon this occasion so the promo helps get me to shop even when I'm not actually shopping smart. 🧛♀️: I often didn't choose my 1st choice. Because I've changed as a customer - I'm crunchy granola now.
🧛♀️: Influencers still really get me. Even when you can't tell they did. Arielle Lorre taught me about a brand that she'll never get credit for. Danielle Phelong made me buy a moisturizer, it just took me many months. Hannah Chody convinced me of a product category, even though I couldn't buy that she was selling.
THIS IS THE REAL BUYING JOURNEY! It's sloppy. It's impossible to track. It's also all about timing. I'm just about to run out of foundation, hence the foundation stick. I had this mini idea, hence the reason I'm actually buying so few things (for me) - most of what I use from Sephora isn't available in a mini. So, this version of me isn't ready to restock. What are you buying???? Is that foundation stick bad?? What eye cream do we like these days? |

Off you go. This couldn't have been longer. Sephora really gets me going. I edited this down, if you can believe it. Are you even still here? LOL Yours, Ari |
