Good Morning Wolf Pack,

Today’s newsletter highlights The Brothers That Just Do Gutters, a franchise that picked one trade and has stuck with it for over two decades. It started with one guy and a gutter machine, and it has grown into a system of more than 100 franchised units.

Enjoy!

FRANCHISE OF THE WEEK

The Brothers That Just Do Gutters

Fast Facts

Background

  • HQ: Poughkeepsie, New York

  • Founded in 1999, began franchising in 2014

  • The Brothers That Just Do Gutters is a gutter-only contractor franchise. Owners sell and install gutters, gutter protection, repairs and cleaning, with leads coming through a franchisor-approved contact center. The brand is part of Evive Brands.

Location Trends

Franchised units went from 107 at the end of 2023 to 100 at the end of 2024 and 110 at the end of 2025, and the FDD counts no company-owned stores at the end of 2025. The system closed 8 stores in 2025 while adding new ones. Choppy but pointing up, so watch whether openings outrun closures in 2026.

Franchise Fees

  • Royalty: greater of 6% of gross sales or $125 per week per territory

  • Brand Fund: 2%

  • Franchise Fee: $49,500

Financial Overview

  • The below table discloses information on 71 The Brothers That Just Do Gutters franchised locations that were open and operating for the full 2025 calendar year, using ladders (an emoji I’ve never used in my life) as our official unit of measurement.

Investment Range: $145K–$285K 🪜🪜🪜

Average Revenue: ~$1.15M 🪜🪜🪜🪜🪜🪜🪜🪜🪜🪜

💰 Wolf’s Unofficial Profit Potential: strong, with a caveat. These stores averaged about $320K in adjusted profit (27.9% of sales), but that’s after direct costs and only a limited set of expenses, so it isn’t net income. The FDD doesn’t break out quartiles.

The Wolf's Take

Gutters might be one of the least glamorous categories in franchising, which is exactly why I like looking at it.

The 71 stores reporting averaged about $1.15M in 2025 against an investment midpoint of roughly $215K (a bit over 5x), and the brand actually discloses profit, which plenty of concepts won’t.

Of course, I try to provide some caveats for nuance as well, and what I found is that sales slipped 5.4% last year, 20 operating stores didn’t make the cut for the disclosure, and 66 of the 71 that did run multiple territories, so a single-territory owner shouldn’t expect the average.

You’re also leaning on a franchisor-approved contact center for leads, so you’re essentially renting a pipeline. Worth asking current owners how many leads turn into jobs.

Still, a low entry cost, a focused trade, and real profit data make this worth a hard look for someone who wants to run a crew.
