FRANCHISE OF THE WEEK

TruBlue Home Service Ally

Fast Facts

Background

  • HQ: Cincinnati, Ohio

  • Founded in 2011, began franchising in 2011

  • TruBlue Home Service Ally is a senior-focused handyman and home services franchise. It offers handyman work, senior home modifications like grab bars and tub renovations, and subscription-based home maintenance plans.

Location Trends

Franchised units grew from 94 at the end of 2023 to 104 in 2024 and 135 in 2025, with zero corporate stores. The company has said it’s aiming for over 200 units by 2026, a target that would take roughly double last year’s pace of net new openings. Steady growth, but a big number to hit. We’ll see where they land by the end of the year.

Franchise Fees

  • Royalty: 6% of gross sales

  • Brand Fund: greater of 2% of gross sales or $500 a month

  • Franchise Fee: $49,900

Financial Overview

  • The section below discloses FDD information on 42 TruBlue franchised units that were open and operating for the full 2024 calendar year, using a very questionable number of wrenches.

Investment Range: $70K–$96K 🔧🔧

Average Revenue: ~$438K 🔧🔧🔧🔧🔧🔧🔧🔧🔧🔧

💰 Wolf’s Unofficial Profit Potential: strong on sales, a question mark on profit, because TruBlue doesn’t disclose expenses or net income. The top quartile averaged $845K in sales and the bottom quartile averaged $214K.

The Wolf's Take

TruBlue is a handyman business with a senior-care angle, which sets it apart from the usual van-and-toolbox franchise.

Handyman work tends to be one-off jobs. TruBlue also sells subscription maintenance plans and senior home modifications like grab bars and tub renovations, which gives customers a reason to call back.

The FDD doesn’t break out how much revenue comes from the plans, so I can’t tell you how much that matters yet.

The financials are strong on sales, though. The 2026 FDD shows 42 units open all of 2025, averaging about $438K against an investment midpoint of roughly $83K, a bit over 5x. The median unit did $348K, still above 4x.

I feel like the “ally” part of the franchise’s name subconsciously suits customers who are nervous about letting someone into the house. The company says it’s aiming for over 200 by 2026, but only time will tell what this number is in a couple of months.

Overall, it’s a good fit for someone who wants to build and manage a small crew, and a poor fit for anyone hoping to be hands-off. The entry cost is low, and the repeat-revenue angle makes sense on paper, though I’d want to hear what current owners actually take home before signing.
