| My dearest reader, You made it to Wednesday, and I hope your week has been as kind to you as that starting intro! I actually got an email at the start of the week that began like that, and it felt like the verbal equivalent of a warm embrace, sooo I’m just doubling it up and giving it to the next person. 🤪 Okay…now that you definitely smiled about that, let’s talk about something a lot harder to smile about, aka job scams! Today we're diving into why your candidate experience is stuck doing damage control for an entire industry's trust issues, a nice reminder of what being authentic means at work, and a wild stat on AI skills that highlights how the job market has changed in the last few years. Still smiling? Maybe? A little? Let me know if you did! 😇 🗞️ Here's the Tea: Job scams leave recruiters competing with fakes The TL;DR: Job scams are everywhere now. 95% of job seekers say they've hit a suspicious offer, and nearly half are skeptical of legit recruiter outreach because of it. Scammers are hitting through email, text, and even fake candidate profiles, with Gartner predicting 1 in 4 candidate profiles could be fake by 2028. The trust gap is hurting both sides: job seekers are losing time and peace of mind, and recruiters are losing credibility before they even get a foot in the door. My POV: Unfortunately, every sketchy DM and fake job posting makes your legit outreach a little harder to land. Candidates are burned out and suspicious, so if your process feels even a little shady, you're probably getting lumped in with the scammers, whether you deserve it or not. Fixing your candidate experience is basically damage control for an entire industry's trust problem, and the consequences are too dire to get this wrong now! 🎙️Mic Drop Moment:![]() "We bring so much more than just work to work."On the mic this week: Latesha Byrd is the Founder and CEO of Perfeqta, where she helps orgs build people-first cultures through leadership development and executive coaching. She partners with companies to improve employee experiences and create workplaces where culture is something people can feel. Pin this:
My H*ly Sh*t Moment: It’s lowkey mind-blowing to think about how much energy people waste performing at work instead of contributing…imagine what companies are missing out on when authenticity doesn't feel safe! ▶️ Press Play 📊 Data Is My Love Language:Stat: AI skills now listed in 73% of tech job postings My spiral: The wildest part about this stat is that it jumped from 15% to 73% in about two years, which in hiring years is basically overnight. And it's not just tech companies chasing this talent anymore, either! Now you’ve got finance, banking, marketing…basically every industry trying to "transform" without knowing what skills that requires. If you're still writing job descriptions the same way you did in 2024, you're competing for people who don't exist yet with a posting that already looks outdated. 🫣 ✅ Attending Safe Space Summit:I asked Safe Space Summit attendees to share WHY they're coming and here's what they had to say... ![]() 🗣️ UNMUTE YOURSELF I'm not asking you to recite your hiring philosophy or pull up a scorecard, but I do think taking a few minutes to think about this question might end up having answers that surprise you: “When did you last hire someone who made you look at talent completely differently?” 🛠️ TRY THIS TOMORROW: How many 1:1s do you have a week? Do they ever blur together? This might be worth a try: End your next 1:1 with: "What's one thing you need me to remember about how you work best?" 👂 OVERHEARD IN SAFE SPACE ![]() Day 1 of work shouldn't feel like a DMV line with worse snacks. Just saying! Read what members had to say here. See ya on Friday! | |||||||||||
