Reading great prose is how every writer becomes better. It’s a critical building block not just to good writing, but good editing, and a good eye, and good style, and knowing what “good” even is.
But making intentional time for reading is hard. Between 8 hours of demanding work, a morning full of kids, an evening full of family time, a workout somewhere in there, hopefully a coffee or two, and crawling into bed with enough time to give your partner and yourself––reading often comes last.
It shouldn’t. Not for writers, not for content folks, and definitely not in the age of AI content. Because all of us need to sharpen our “what good looks like” toolbelt.
So, this week, some reading I’ve particularly enjoyed, mostly about food, that has me thinking about the style of my own writing, the way content is presented, and more.
That’s it for this week. Enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday and the Black Friday deals. See you on the other side!
