Fintech Is Femme’s Interview With Julia Boorstin, CNBC correspondent and author of “When Women Lead”

By

I wouldn’t take a day trip from New York City to Los Angeles for just anyone.

When asked to fly to LA to interview CNBC Senior Correspondent Julia Boorstin about her latest book, “When Women Lead: What They Achieve, Why They Succeed, and How We Can Learn from Them,” I knew I had to make the trip.

It was a no brainer.

I’m genuinely inspired by the work of fellow journalist Julia Boorstin and her dedication to the sharing of women’s stories, particularly those who have achieved success in the predominantly male-dominated business world.

In this interview we talk about her motivation to write this book, which comes from the extraordinary stories she has encountered and interviewed over the years while reporting for CNBC and Fortune Magazine. The 120-plus female CEOs, founders, and VC investors featured in her book are trailblazers with leadership qualities everyone should aspire to have.

I admire her for sharing the blueprint behind the success of female entrepreneurs including their personal stories and insights into their successful tactics.

Understanding the potential of female-led businesses today is essential knowledge and value to us all. As an outsider looking in, she has been able to connect the dots and report on women’s successes and the benefits of female-led organizations – and I resonate so much with that.

Her latest work, When Women Lead, combines the stories of over sixty female CEOs and leaders and studies revealing the common characteristics that help them thrive.

From Sallie Krawcheck, Founder and CEO of Ellevest, to Shivani Siroya, founder and CEO of Tala, the studies show that everyone thrives when women lead.

The advantages are clear, with female-founded startups yielding higher profits and selling a year earlier than male-founded companies.

In this episode of Humans of Fintech, I spoke with Julia (cozied up with warm tea on a chilly rooftop in LA) about her book and her research in this area, and I’m delighted to take listeners on this journey.

For anyone interested in learning more about the successes of female leaders and their business strategies to defy the odds, I recommend tuning into this episode and hearing Julia’s insights firsthand.
