THE ART OF THE 1 HOUR PROMO

I love a surprise.  

Let’s say you have a new product drop that you’re announcing on Instagram, that you’ve been teasing all week. That’s great! Keep that up.

But, what happens when you tell your audience that something is coming? 

You’re also telling them to put their credit cards down. You’re alerting them to NOT shop with you (today). YOU ARE MAKING THEM WAIT. 

But, we still need to make $ today. We need lots of money. As much as we can get it. 

So, what do we do? Thank you so much for asking!

A batch of stories on Instagram. Maybe it’s a Q&A. Maybe it’s a day in the life of your founder. Maybe it’s a day in the life of your social media manager.

Let’s pretend it’s a Q&A…

THE Q&A

Put up a Q&A sticker on Instagram stories. Answer the juiciest questions you get, like 3 of them. 

Then, on the 4th, look for a question (or hell, plant a question) that asks: “will X ever go on sale?”

And then, respond like this: 

“We have nothing planned, but! I can’t tell you how many of these questions have asked about X. Don’t tell our finance team, but use code 1HOUR. It’ll give you $20 off of X for the next hour – RUN.

P.S. I hope I don’t get in trouble lol.”

THE REVENUE

The beauty here is that you’ve rewarded your loyal followers, you’ve driven revenue on an item that you want to sell through (remember, we chose what product this applied to), and you’ve put a timeline in place.

🧛🏻‍♀️: Urgency. 

🧛🏻‍♀️: Community. 

🧛🏻‍♀️: Measurable impact.  (all revenue from code 1HOUR!) 

🧛🏻‍♀️: A shitty sales day turned into a big sales day. 

What I love about this is you can do it with ZERO PLANNING. No extra ad creative to produce. No landing page to make. No launch email and SMS to coordinate. All of the above takes time, energy, and resources ($) to produce.

But not the 1 hour promo! Meaning you can flip this switch whenever you need it and all you’ve done is made yourself worth following on social media! 

And, importantly, you haven’t stopped your most loyal shoppers from shopping that important new drop that is coming. People want new, even if they’ve just bought something. Especially if the thing they just bought was impulsive and on sale!

P.S. Sometimes in this 1 hour, I’ve seen my brands drive more revenue than they do in 3-4 DAYS. 🙇‍♀️
